USAGE AND CONSERVATION

TIPS FOR OLIVE OIL CONSERVATION

Keep in mind that olive oil was obtained from an olive, where it was sheltered. After the extraction, it becomes more vulnerable to light, heat and air. We recommend that olive oil, being a perishable product, be kept on a fresh and dark environment, such as a cellar. Because both temperature and light accelerate the oxidation, which may result in degrading its flavor.

Olive oil should be consumed up to a year and a half after bottling, though it can be stored for longer, if on a dark and fresh location.

After it is opened, olive oil should be consumed as quickly as possible, on a period no longer than one an a half months, maintaining the bottle well closed. If you prefer canned olive oil, we suggest you transfer the oil to a bottle, avoiding its oxidation.

Here are a few more tips so that you can savor it properly:

– Always close the recipient after using;

– Keep the olive oil away from any sources of heat, such as a stove;

– Keep it on a fresh and low light location.

Other uses for olive oil

Besides gastronomy, this oil is used in cosmetics and aesthetics.

For thousands of years it has been used by women to nourish and soften the skin, minimizing the action of free radicals, molecules that contribute for early aging. And that is why cosmetic companies use it for hydrating creams, massage oils, soaps and shampoos.

Olive oil nourishes, protects and softens, thanks to the oleic acid, that reduces water loss without the oiliness sensation.
