Herdade de Alcobaça

land of monks and olive trees

We invite you to think back to 1226, when the Alcobaça monks, wise farmers with knowledge of soil quality, established themselves in the region of Elvas and began producing olive oil in a true paradise lost of plains and olive groves.

In this region, ideal for olive oil production and influenced by the Mediterranean climate, the Ortigão Costa family produces and bottles Ouro d’ Elvas olive oil at Herdade de Alcobaça using clean, quality olives that are freshly picked in order to maintain all of their aroma and taste.

At this estate several generations of valuable knowledge goes into each bottle, containing the precious nectar that reaches the table of the connoisseurs of good olive oil in a veritable tribute to the genuine flavour of Alentejo.
